I DESIGN STUFF

As the senior creative project manager of Barnes & Noble’s in-house creative team, I was a multi-hyphenate who wore many hats. From graphic designer to copywriter to illustrator, I had a hand in much of B&N’s visual and editorial output across multiple channels. I’ve included some examples of my work here.

This past holiday season, I created custom hand-drawn text and illustrations for some of B&N's biggest in-store displays. I drew headlines for all subjects in the New Releases shop (left and right in the above photo, plus below right) and New Fiction for the "book tree" octagon display (above center and below left).

I also designed printed signs for monthly displays throughout the store, including tables, endcaps, stepladders, and more (below). In addition to editorial duties, I often directed junior and freelance designers to strategize and execute hundreds of visual assets for various promotions and corporate initiatives.

I directed the simultaneous nationwide rollouts of the Harry Potter and Star Wars fan boutiques (below). This required constant collaboration with business stakeholders, designers, production partners, and movie studios. In the end, I was ultimately responsible for the look (and cost!) of the finished store displays.

In addition to being a designer and a copywriter, I’m also a photographer.
I shot the two images below to be used in social media to promote a special Vogue tote offer.

But the one project I’m most proud of is the Social Distancing campaign that rolled out to all stores last summer (below). In addition to providing strategic creative direction, I also led the way on all editorial content. Of all the campaigns I managed over the years, this was definitely the most important one.
