Sometimes we need to turn everything on its head to gain a fresh perspective on ourselves and the world around us.

When it comes to photography, and street photography in particular, it's easy to say that serendipity plays a large role in capturing memorable, offbeat shots. And one could also argue that timing, luck, and perseverance are hugely important factors when it comes to good street photography. (Comfortable shoes are incredibly important, too.) Speaking from experience, though, I would also say that approaching each shot with a "what if" mentality is key to maintaining an open mind. 

To that end, what if we photographers, cameras in hand, deigned to tell the street's story our own way, through the lens of our varied imaginations? Indeed, in those magical moments of inception, we can bend the world to our collective will, capturing not just reality, but dreams themselves, rendered in shadow, and in light.
